This Free-spirited Boho Editorial will Take You Back to the 70s

I've always loved the idea of living a boho life in the 70s, and my parents and uncles and aunties' stories always inspired me to be that 'free spirit'.

So when Christy of  Christy V & Co asked me to do a custom styled invitation suite for a boho glam editorial by Zai of Zaitography, I was beyond excited. Plus, I've never been to a farm in Florida, so when I saw Kai Kai Farms' incredible farm to table offering,  I was even more inspired to create a custom Kai Kai Farms-inspired menu!

Zai captures golden hour in the most magical, almost ethereal way. I love her gold and copper tones in her photos and I wanted that to be the soul of my chosen canvas - black matte cotton rag paper from Fabulous Fancy Pants. I love mixing inks, so I did an ombré of copper, bronze and gold to mimic the Sunshine State's beautiful sunset.

The Monaco suite is reminiscent of a time in the 70s when "glam" was less calculated and more in line with boho vibes. Think James Bond meets Brigitte Bardot. Just the right dose of metallics for the ink, and the handmade cotton rag paper was a nod to the elusive bohemian lifestyle during those days. I put so much love and heart into this suite, and I hope you love it as much as I did making it.

We drove for miles and miles. When we got to the farm, it was like we just travelled through time. We climbed fences, dressed up in boho, ate cake like no one was watching. Under a grove of Papaya trees, we sat and sang 'til dusk, and we couldn't be happier. It was just like what I imagined the 70s would be like.

Props to Jamie of Champagne & Grit for helping me make sure my handmade papers stay in place. She is a talented Bridal Accessories designer and stylist; and to Victoria of VMF Photo for keeping me company during the long drive and for enduring my 'live' pod cast of a monologue. You can watch her video below. Of course, Zai of Zaitography captured this magical dream of a trip.

I've met so many talented vendors who shared their energy and passion for this project, and I hope you check out their work too.

We eloped in a Vdub and our friends brought some food, we had music and singing all night long, and in the morning we found ourselves in a wild dream in the middle of a barren land.

Special thanks to Carl and Diane of Kai Kai Farms for hosting us.

What will happen to us?” I asked. “There will always be us,” he answered.
